In this work, I explore the availability of non-factive readings of know and Italian sapere, arguing that factive projection is shaped by focus, the question under discussion, and the common ground.

I claim ‘PRO’ to not be so special: de re/de se readings as a matter of implicatures

This paper challenges the view that PRO is obligatorily interpreted de se, arguing that its semantic interpretation is de re and that de se readings arise as cancellable, context-sensitive implicatures through competition with overt pronouns.
